Surviving IB tips 1.4 (STUDYING TECHNIQUES)

Hey againnnn :D
As u know, there are bunch of stuff to learn in IB, and u obviously can't do your usual one night study technique anymore. In IB studying is basically the "Story of Our Life" :')

Story of My Life - One Direction Peter Hollens feat. Mike Tompkins

OMG I know this song is so mainstream guysss, sorry :( but yeahhh this version is better :o

Also, u need a good studying techniques so that u can finish everything on time, or else u'll always be miserable and wishing u can have "One More Night"

"One More Night" - Maroon 5 - Luke Conard, Alex Goot, Julia Sheer, Chad Sugg, ATC, Missglamorazzi

Yeah yeah sorry I keep posting songs, but Chrissy's voice so goodddd

Okayyy,
Lets start on the tips :D

Firstly, get a comfortable place to study. I found that I can study better in my room, not on the studying table but on my bed. Then I will not wear a blanket so that I feel cold and it makes me stay awake. Basically this tip is really based on yourself. Figure out the place that u can concentrate better, don't study in front of the TV if u kept getting distracted by the programs going on.

Secondly, study everyday. U should study a bit everyday. If there's an exam next week, start studying a little bit everyday so that u can cover everything, unlike if u just started studying the night before. Most of the time if u started the night before, u'll miss somethings or u have to push yourself pass midnight. It won't be effective when u're too tired already.

Thirdly, set time/period to study for one subject. U can set a timer using those oldschool alarm clock so that u won't be distracted unlike using your phone. U can also just keep track of time, or set targets like u need to finish until chapter 2 in an hour. The thing is, there are so many different works to do and u should divide your time wisely to finish everything.

Fourthly, discover your learning style. There are people who study from reading the textbook, thats me. I got to read every single thing on the book, then I can answer the questions better. One of my friends actually summarise each chapter and write it on her notebook, cos for her its like reviewing the materials when she writes it down. One of my sister's friend study better through listening, so she would find explanations of the materials on youtube and listen to it. Yeahh, there are different ways to study, u might also do combination of writing and reading or other combinations. Find the one that suits u well :D

Fifthly, take breaks !!!! Well, idk if its qualified as studying technique, BUT it is important to take breaks. Those books won't get to your head if u're too tired, u'll end up wasting your time. Don't take breaks too long tho, remember to finish your works.

Sixthly (mmm I'm not sure if this is grammatically correct -__-) ask for help. Don't be scared to ask for further explanation from teachers, or ask for help from your friends. It will be good for u at the end if u can understand it and nailed it during exams :D

Yeahhh thats basically some of the tips from me that u can do to improve your studying.
Stay tuned for more :D

Surviving IB Tips 1.3 (STRESS REDUCTION)

Kitten Therapy: The Prescription for Stress

SoulPancake. (Nov 11, 2014). From https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=35T8wtmTbVg

Heyyyy peopleeeee,
I know that IB could sometimes give you stress (everyone has limits right???) because of all the works, and exams. Well as the video title above, I want to help you guys to get through your stressful life. It is fairly easy, just follow these two steps :D

  1. Watch the video :D
  2. Read my tips below

Okay, so lets get started

Firstly, set breaks in between works. U should set short breaks in between your study. U can just go out from your room and talk to your siblings or parents, take some snacks (hahahaha thats me), play a short game, watch a youtube video, orrrr play with your pets :D just like in the video. Well basically anything to relax u, because sometimes u're just too bored or tired and cannot concentrate to study anymore. If u force yourself to continue studying, most of the time it will be useless, nothing will stick in your head. These small breaks could help u get through those, but remember to get back to your study :D

Secondly, find humour. Laughter can reduce your tension. Just as I said before, this could help u to refresh and get focused again to study.

Thirdly, switch off from school mode. Just like a robot, u should be able to switch from serious mode for school to FUN MODE :D If u can do this, not only that it will prevent u from getting stressed, but also getting the most out of your free time. U should not think about work during your free time, like when u go out with friends or families. If u keep thinking about your school work, it could ruin the mood for everyone and u don't want to do that. Its like those teachers who said "okay u have 5 mins break, but do the textbook exercise", like WT.... U WANT TO GIVE US BREAK OR NOT MAN?!?!!!?!?!??!

Fourthly, don't overthink. Being a perfectionist is not always a perfect choice. When u're done with one work, move on to finish the other. I'm not saying that u should just do it for the sake of finishing it, still put your effort into each work but don't spend too much time on it and not finishing the other works.

Yeahh basically thats it, so don't stress out u can do this!!!!

Stay tuned for more :D

Surviving IB tips 1.2 (TIME MANAGEMENT)

Homeless Pit Bull with Huge Wound (Graphic)

"If Daisy was left alone on the streets much longer she surely would have died from infection. Luckily she was rescued and brought to Vet Ranch. We kept her for about a month at our facility getting her back to full health. Here is her story."

Vet Ranch. (Nov 7, 2014). From https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNiPYBy6zjk#t=208

Hey peopleeeeeee,
DON'T WATCH THE VIDEO if u're squeamish about blood and wound and those stuff.
but yeahh basically I'm going to talk about my second tip to survive IB based on that video, soooo.... just read the video description :D

Okay for you people who don't watch the vid, basically Daisy (the dog) was hit by a car and it left a huge wound on her back - and I mean huge........ :O Soooo, imagine IB is like the car. U were happily living your life, then BOOM..... it hits u in the face, leaving a big wound - the wound is your tons of IB works - and u're left alone having to deal with it just like Daisy in the video. As in the video description said, Daisy could have been dead because of infection. This again like your IB life for 2 years. Not finishing your works, especially your EE and TOK essays, can cause you to fail from getting your diploma to only getting a certificate.

Now, IB does give tons of work to do, but its not impossible to get it all done in time, and all of this depends on your TIME MANAGEMENT.

There's so little time, yet so many works to do

First, make a daily plan and set time limit for each activity based on their importance and urgency.

Putting the works that is important AND urgent first. This is done to ensure that u finish your deadlines

Secondly, target to be early. Being on time is not enough, if u can finish your work even earlier than the deadline itself, it will ease your life a little. There is always a chance that your computer will broke down, or the internet broke down, or your ink run out which could be fatal. Just like in the video, if the wound is left open for too long, it could lead to complication and worsen the condition. Now, not being able to print it on time, u can still print it at school, but if your laptop broke down and your work is gone... now thats a problem :O

Thirdly, make sure u know what to do for each task, so u don't waste your time. Just like in the video, the vet knows what to do in managing the wound so it could heal properly. U got to know what u're doing man... so that u can do it faster. Well, how u do this is basically pay attention in class.

Fourthly, block out distractions. Distractions could be chats, social networks, games, or TV shows. Well the solution for these is quite straight forward. PUT IT AWAY!!! TURN IT OFF!!! GO TO ANOTHER ROOM WITHOUT YOUR TV AND COMPUTER!!! .... yeahhh :D

Fifthly, set reminders. It could be notes on what are the works not finished yet, or it could be like an alarm every an hour reminding u of the time u've spent on one particular task. Also, it could remind you of how many hours left for your other tasks. This way, u won't spend too much time on one thing and not finishing the other.

In conclusion, there are various ways to manage your time well. It is now up to u, to be committed and do these plans u set up. If u don't take these pointers seriously, not determined to improve and to survive this hellhole then it all will be useless.

Yeahhhh :D this is the end for my post now.
Stay tuned for more !!!

Surviving IB tips 1.1 (PLAN AHEAD)

Hey peopleeee,
so yeah I just found this flash game (I know right, flash game whatt??) that I found 2 days ago and I started playing it. Kinda addicting, for me. Well I did make some more people get addicted playing this game. Well.... this is one of my way of relaxing after school

Small
Slope
Click here to play this game

I know people, don't hate on me for getting addicted playing flash games. u can go play your DOTA, LoL, BF, COD or any other extremely amazing games - suggest me some game pleaseee :p

MY POINT IS, we should have a balanced life from school and relaxing. Lets quote "Karate Kid" movie - "too much of anything is a bad thing" *hopefully I remember it correctly :D

A reminder tho, be sure to still do your works and study cos in IB I think its more about being diligent and PLAN AHEAD.

First of, plan the subjects u want to choose. This is if u're just getting started with IB, for those of u already make your choices, wellll good luck finishing it.

Sooo, we need to take 6 subjects, and 3 of them have to be HL (Higher Level - basically means an extremely harder course than the Standard Level or so called SL). If your future uni major does not need a subject in HL, don't be stupid and take HL just to look cool, its dead sentence - especially math HL :'( Like if you're going for business major, no need to take math HL. Also it is recommended just to take 3 HL, u can take 4 HL but its only for them geniuses, ahhahahhaha :p
Seriously, an HL subject has wayyy more work than the SL, its the difference between finishing the work in 3 hours for SL, and finishing it for 6 hours for HL (well kinda depends on you, if u so smart bro, it might not be that hard)

Secondly, there's so much work to do in IB in general (IAs, usual hw, EE, TOK, presentations, some other papers and stuff, and studying for tests aghhhhhh) sooo DON'T waste too much time on games and other things, those works will pile up and u will have to pull an all nighter (then show up to school look like u're on hangover -__- ). With the normal amount of work daily, as I present to you before, most of us can only sleep for 3-4 hours.

Be sure to keep track of due dates for your works, u don't want to miss it (u don't want to have teacher haunting you :p) . Write a schedule of what work to be done each day (well you could do this in your school diary - if u have one - or make memos) Heyyy this could be done using those stickies in your macbook. U got to stick to your memos tho, don't let it pile up - againnnn remember works piling up, all nighter, hangover look... - Anddddd, as every teacher said, last minute work is not good, so do your work as soon as you get it, don't procrastinate. Owh yeah almost forgot, u should use your weekends to....... do more works :D yeeeeey. Of course as I said before be sure to also have some relax time, but u should use the weekends wisely to finish up works. Do a little each day, don't do it all only on Sunday night :D

This tip has successfully done by my sister, she is incredibly diligent (compared to me, I look like a 5-year old playing around doesn't care about school, the result tho, of course she's better)
Hey, I learnt it the hard way, I have gone through a few all nighter and the result is falling asleep at least once in every class. I end up feeling like I haven't study anything after the class end.

Owh yeah, the good thing about planning ahead is that, if u do it correctly u should have some time to relax and at least get some sleep at the end of the day

Sooooo, thats my tip for you guys for now. See... lucky for you I post the flash game, now if u're tired reading my post, u can go try that game :p
Stay tuned for more :D

The Ugly Truth of IB Life

hahahahahahaahah (while looking like a weirdo) - the respond of every IBDP student when asked what's due tomorrow, cause sometimes we have too many things and just basically don't even want to think about it

3 to 4 hours - the amount of sleep every IBDP student gets most of the night, maybe even less.

Go out from my bedroom and watch TV during weekends - basically already considered an achievement to not think about school work (IBDP works). Don't even think about going out from your house :O

Well, those are some facts I gathered based on my IB life (I even haven't finished my IB year, well almost, sooo yeahhh...)

For those of you who don't know what IBDP is, its International Baccalaureate Diploma Program an AMAZING curriculum to prepare you for university lives. More specifically,

"The IB Diploma Programme (DP) is an academically challenging and balanced programme of education with final examinations that prepares students, aged 16 to 19, for success at university and life beyond. It has been designed to address the intellectual, social, emotional and physical well-being of students. The programme, has gained recognition and respect from the world’s leading universities."

The IB Diploma Programme. (n.d.). From http://www.ibo.org/diploma/
look at that citation tho :D one of many things you learn from IBDP
The statement is correct on some part, but still, address social and emotional life of students ??!! -__-

ANYWAYYYYY, I have some good newsss :D
First, if you do take IB you can consider yourself a bad*ss, since now you have the freedom to say "please, u haven't try IB don't even say your life is hard" to people who's complaining about their NORMAL school life.

P.S. IB can be considered as abnormal lifestyle, well kinda amazing if you can survive it

Secondly, it is not impossible to survive it
I do have the survival tips for you people who's going to take IB :D
It is based on my personal experience tho, soooo... lets just hope my final IB grades will be good and thus these tips will somehow considered as dependable, and I might add some from my sister, since she successfully finish her IB (45 if you know what I mean)

Lets get started !!!
